Written by the Artist :

“Original Art – Comandante de la Revolución Cubana ©2016 Ruca Zombie

To honor a great revolutionary leader, I have created this piece of metal art, using embossing art technique, known as Repoussé. This metal work was not stamped, neither created by using a embossing machine, it took me many hours of meticulous hand work to be completed. It’s an original artwork, using an original sketch drawn by me.

Art is framed inside a wooden shadow frame. Metal art: 8″ x 10″

Repoussé is metalworking technique in which a malleable sheet of metal is shaped with handheld tools to create a dimensional design.

This is a handmade artwork and it was created with love.”

The package arrived at the Studio. Was pleasantly surprised with the presentation, very well done indeed.  It’s like Christmas came early.

Acquired these 2 sets of news print. From the seller’s post on eBay:

Fidel Castro Ruz was born in Birán, in the former province of Oriente, on August 13, 1926. Born into a well-off landowning family, he received his primary education in a rural school, later attended private Jesuit schools in Santiago de Cuba and Havana, and graduated from law school at the University of Havana (described in My Early Years and Fidel and Religion). As a student, he volunteered for an armed expedition against the Trujillo dictatorship in the Dominican Republic and was in Colombia to help organize a Latin American anti-imperialist student congress when the April 1948 popular uprising occurred in Bogotá. After Fulgencio Batista’s 1952 coup, Fidel Castro organized and led an unsuccessful attack on the Moncada army garrison in Santiago de Cuba on July 26, 1953. While in prison, Fidel Castro edited his defense speech from the trial into the pamphlet History Will Absolve Me, which was distributed in tens of thousands of copies and became the program of what was to become the revolutionary July 26 Movement. Originally sentenced to 15 years, he and his comrades were released from prison 22 months later, in May 1955, as a result of a growing public campaign. Exiled to Mexico, he organized a guerrilla expedition to Cuba to launch a guerrilla movement to overthrow Batista. Arriving aboard the cabin cruiser Granma, for the next two years, Fidel Castro led the Rebel Army. On January 1, 1959, Batista fled Cuba. In response to a call by Fidel, hundreds of thousands of Cubans launched an insurrectionary general strike that ensured the victory of the revolution. Fidel Castro arrived triumphantly in Havana on January 8 as commander-in-chief of Cuba’s victorious Rebel Army. On February 13, 1959, he was named prime minister, a position he held until December 1976, when he became president of the Council of State and the Council of Ministers. One of history’s greatest orators, for nearly five decades, Fidel Castro has been an outspoken advocate for the rights of Third World and other oppressed peoples at international forums such as the Movement of Nonaligned Countries and the United Nations. A selection of his famous speeches was published in Fidel Castro Reader. On July 31, 2006, shortly before his 80th birthday, Fidel Castro handed over all his positions in the Cuban government to his brother Raúl. “Fidel’s devotion to the word is almost magical.” — Gabriel García Márquez “Fidel is the leader of one of the smallest countries in the world, but he has helped to shape the destinies of millions of people across the globe.” –Angela Davis “Fidel Castro is a man of the masses& The Cuban revolution has been a source of inspiration to all freedom-loving people.” –Nelson Mandela “Fidel’s is a singing and dancing intellect& In Fidel this passion is expressed in his priestly dedication to revolution.” –Alice Walker

Added this into FETCHr’s collection.  This is an original id card of the Partido Unido de la Revolucion Socialista (PURS) ( Socialist Revolution United Party) issued in 1962 for the first time as a provisional card that was replaced in 1966 with the Communist Party id card. Both id cards belonged to the same member. The communist party id card is attached to the PURS book.

The PURS id is presented as a book with spaces to paste a stamp each monthcontribution to the party. Each member had to pay 10 pesos each month as a contribution to the party. It also bears in the first page a printed signature of Fidel Castro.

The id belonged to Aurelio Pedroso Sierra and was issued for him in January, 1964.

The United Party of the Socialist Revolution of Cuba (PURSC) was Cuba’s unique political party created on March 26, 1962. It was born as a result of the fusion of the July 26 Movement, the Popular Socialist Party (PSP) and theMarch 13 Revolutionary Directorate. He replaced the Integrated Revolutionary Organizations (ORI) as a political axis of the Cuban revolution. Its national structure was a Secretariat composed of 6 persons Fidel Castro (1st Secretary), Raul Castro (2nd Secretary), Ernesto Che Guevara, Osvaldo Dorticos Torrado, Blas Roca and Emilio Aragones.
On October 3, 1965 it became the Communist Party of Cuba, after its first Central Committee have settled on September 30 and October 1 of that year.

Purchased this book from an online site. Owner is Mike Dunn -An almond farmer from central California! A nice Imperial German~Bavarian book “90 Jahre In Treue Fest”. The book seems to celebrate the 90 years of the Prinzegented Luitpold von Bayern. Book is 216 pages long and opens to a great picture of the Prinz in uniform wearing a super medal bar and breast awards. There are written passages in the beginning of the book and many great photos of Luitpold. A super vintage historical Bavarian book. The book does have some condition issues-cover is a bit dirty, there are yellow age spots in part of the book. A really nice vintage historical book. #871-5

Tutored as a child by Domenico Quaglio the Younger, Luitpold had a great feeling for the arts. Luitpold’s years as regent were marked by tremendous artistic and cultural activity in Bavaria where they are known as the Prinzregentenjahre (“The Prince Regent Years”) or the Prinzregentenzeit. Bavaria prospered under a liberal government and Munich became a cultural centre of Europe. Thomas Mann wrote about this period “Munich shone” (1902 Gladius Dei). Schwabing became an important artists’ quarter in Munich.

There are numerous streets in Bavarian cities and towns called Prinzregentenstrasse or Luitpoldstrasse. Many institutions are named in Luitpold’s honour including the Prinzregententheater in Munich and the Luitpoldarena and the Luitpoldhalle in Nürnberg. In 1891 Luitpold established the Luitpold Gymnasium in Munich. Prinzregententorte is a multi-layered cake with chocolate butter cream named in his honour. The vessel SMS Prinzregent Luitpold of the Imperial German Navy and the Luitpold Coast were named for Luitpold.

Penny RED

Bought this for FETCHr.  It’s for FETCHr to Charles.

The Penny Red was a British postage stamp, issued in 1841. It succeeded the Penny Black and continued as the main type of postage stamp in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland until 1879, with only minor changes to the design during that time. The colour was changed from black to red because of difficulty in seeing a cancellation mark on the Penny Black; a black cancel was readily visible on a Penny Red.[1]
